Of rectangular form, the flat sides taper to a smaller flat base, a large rectangular depression in the centre together with a stone pestle of conical form.
In order to prepare the coloured inks used by the scribes and painters, it was necessary to grind the pigments and then mix them with a gum or similar medium using palettes and grinders such as this example.
Condition: Intact and in good condition overall with minor losses to the edges and surface, showing good signs of usage. A great example.
